What Can I Do?

1. Get a home energy audit. An energy retrofit can pay for itself.

All Rutland County residents can take advantage of NeighborWorks' H.E.A.T. Squad, the one-stop-shop for a more comfortable and healthy home. The program is a streamlined way to take advantage of Efficiency Vermont incentives and certified Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractors.

Visit HEATSquad.org or call 438-2303 to get started.
2. Learn about the latest energy efficient lightbulbs and appliances.

You can switch almost any incandescent lightbulb for a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) and use 75% less energy for the same amount of light. Special bulbs are perfect for dimmable, three-way, and reflector (can light) fixtures too. Don't forget about the rebates for refrigerators, clothes washers, air conditioners, and more.
3. Tune up your furnace.
A quick visit from a heating professional will keep it running smoothly and save fuel over the winter. Call your fuel dealer or find a heating equipment technician in Rutland County.
